Make your own textured silver clay ring with a natural pearl. This base ring made of 999 fine silver / Art Clay Silver has an organic texture and is finished with a large, half-drilled pearl.
Supplies
Silver clay, textured mat, CoolSlip anti-stick spray, ring mandrel or silicone ring sizer, a piece of 999 silver wire, a large semi-drilled natural pearl, a firing tool or ceramic kiln, polishing materials, and WEICON two-component adhesive.
Step by step
- Prepare the ring size
Use a ring mandrel or a silicone ring sizer. Check the knowledge base under ” Making Rings” for the correct size. - Roll out the silver clay
First, roll out the silver clay to a thickness of 2 mm. - Apply texture t
. Spray the texture mat with CoolSlip anti-stick formula so the silver clay doesn’t stick. Then roll out the clay on the texture to a thickness of 1.5 mm. - Shape the ring
Wrap the silver clay around the ring mandrel or ring sizer and carefully seal the seam. - Place the silver pin
. Then anneal a small piece of 999 silver wire that fits into the hole in the pearl. Leave the wire a little longer; you can trim it to size after annealing. - Finish the ring at
. Smooth out the edges neatly and check the seam and texture. - Fire the silver clay ring at
Fire the ring according to the instructions for the silver clay you are using. - Polish the ring
After firing, brush and polish the ring until it reaches the desired shine. - Attach the pearl
Glue the half-drilled pearl onto the silver pin using WEICON two-component adhesive.
Alternative: Upcycle an existing ring
