Description

Silver clay paste, 20 grams, from Art Clay Silver.

This is basically the same as silver clay, only it has more water added to it, making it spreadable. You can use it to:

  • Two pieces of dry clay to attach together.
  • Repair cracks.
  • Create a paste pattern on dry clay.
  • Applying texture to silver clay workpieces
  • Doing repairs in wet and dry silver clay
  • Attaching haberdashery such as setting boxes, pendant eyelets, screw eyelets, pieces of 999 silver wire etc.
  • Applying layers of silver clay paste to e.g. leaves (apply at least 12 layers of paste on each side. Make sure you let each layer dry thoroughly before applying another. Thin the 1st layer slightly.
  • Applying layers of silver clay to a base of cork or wood clay to create hollow jewelry ( ash jewelry, memorial jewelry, cremation jewelry)

Close the jar of silver clay paste tightly between uses to prevent it from drying out. If the paste has dried out add a few drops of distilled water to soften the paste again.

The paste consists of 90% silver and 10% binder. A fired piece consists of 99.9% silver (fine silver)

Do not add leftover silver clay to the paste. The composition of silver clay is 80/20%. Leftover silver clay can be kept. Put them in a jar with a lid and add a few drops of water and/or paste maker.

In the Knowledge Base you will find more information about working with silver clay and silver clay paste.

The paste shrinks about 9% during baking. The paste can be baked with a torch, in a silver clay oven or on the gas stove. The silver clay paste can be baked at temperatures as low as 650.
